Perspective
Looking to 2001, there may be some positive matters, such as the discretionary
investment business that was recently approved by SFC, however, future
uncertainty creates a challenge. This uncertainty takes many forms: global
growth in the IT industry has slowed, new demand from the TMT business is
unsure, the global economy is slowing and the relationship between China
and Taiwan is by its nature uncertain. National Securities Corporation is
conservative about the Taiwan's Stock Market this year. We believe the near-term
outlook for Taiwan's stock market is not very encouraging and competition in
the securities industry will deepen after Taiwan's entering WTO. National
Security Corporation will promote its business in accordance with existing
standards and increased financial deregulation. Our specific business goals
for this year are:
Steady Promotion and Upgrade of All Businesses:
- Establish two branch offices
- Recruit and train the most suitable securities brokers, boost
sales
- Promote Futures Introducing Broker (IB)
- Upgrade the online business, establish a client class system,
concentrate on group sales
- Design and execute investment business with strategy alliances
- Promote bond trading
- Issue four Taiwan Warrants
- Promote underwriting aboard
|
Strengthen Regulation and Management, Decrease Business Risk:

- Establish procedures of evaluating international business
risk and decision making
- Design and implement management structure for units overseas
- Evaluate clients' credit situations periodically
|
Promote Productivity and Control Costs:
- Decision making efficiency
- Integrate management and conduct post-merger evaluation
